What is Understand-Anything?

Understand-Anything (Egonex-AI, MIT) turns a codebase, knowledge base, or docs into an interactive knowledge graph you can explore, search, and ask about. Tagline: Graphs that teach > graphs that impress. It works with Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Copilot, Gemini CLI, Hermes, OpenClaw, and more.

How do I install Understand-Anything in Claude Code?

Run /plugin marketplace add Egonex-AI/Understand-Anything then /plugin install understand-anything. Analyze with /understand, open the UI with /understand-dashboard, and ask questions with /understand-chat.

How do Codex, Cursor, and Hermes install Understand-Anything?

macOS/Linux: curl install.sh | bash (or bash -s codex|hermes|gemini|...). Windows: install.ps1. Cursor can auto-discover via .cursor-plugin/plugin.json when the repo is cloned. Codex invokes skills with $understand, not /understand.

Where is the knowledge graph saved?

Default output is .ua/knowledge-graph.json. Legacy .understand-anything/ is still supported when present. Commit the graph for teammates; exclude .ua/intermediate/ and .ua/diff-overlay.json.

Does the first /understand use many tokens?

Yes—the first full-repo run can use many tokens. Prefer a subscription plan or a local model (e.g. Ollama). Later runs are incremental by default. Scope huge monorepos with /understand src/frontend or similar.

Can I generate Chinese summaries?

Yes. Use /understand --language zh (also zh-TW, ja, ko, ru, vi; en default). Choice can be saved to .ua/config.json for later runs.
